Submissions

7 X 17 is pleased to seek entries for our first issue. 7 X 17 is a new publication/magazine featuring the artwork of emerging artists looking for exposure in a physical object that creates a more intimate and lasting experience with the viewer than digital media can provide. Our goal is to provide a platform for artists to showcase their work in an interdisciplinary sphere that treats all media and modes of production equally, with as wide of an audience as possible.

This is an open call, meaning that there is no theme and no restriction on artistic medium. The only restraint is that the artwork must be representable as an image, but that image may be documentation of a performance, a reproduction of a 2D or 3D artwork, a visualization of a concept, etc. Our first issue will be perfect-bound and printed in color on uncoated paper. Black and white images will be as faithfully reproduced as possible.

The cost of submission is $5 per image, with a minimum of 3 images submitted. Artists may submit up to 7 images total. Issues will be sent to every individual who has submitted art, independent of their selection status. If more than one issue is requested, additional fees may be required. Remaining issues will be distributed in public spaces in Seattle, WA, and depending on response to this call, other areas of the country.

This is a self-funded project. Any revenue generated will go towards producing, printing, shipping and distributing costs of this or future issues.
